True Happy Hours in Vail Winter 2016
Vail prides itself in the “Vail Experience” and that includes fun off of the slopes. The trendy Après ski scene in Vail hosts more happy hour options than in most towns.
You don’t have to break the bank to enjoy some delicious food and tasty drinks. Below are some of the best happy hours in the Vail area. We know because we sent the marketing team on assignment to find the best places. They thoroughly enjoyed this project because it “really” helps provide valuable information to guests of the Vail Mountain Lodge!
Terra Bistro (of course we would start with our favorite!)
Located in the Vail Mountain Lodge
5:00pm – 6:00pm Everyday!
50% off appetizers
Tucked away in the Vail Mountain Lodge, Terra Bistro is a trendy and delicious spot to enjoy contemporary appetizer/drink combinations while waiting to enjoy a fulfilling meal. Dedicated to only using the freshest organic ingredients, this farm to table restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy “Appy Hour”.
Located in the Village across from Shakedown and the water fire fountain, in the same building as Los Amigos
2:00pm – 5:00pm
As a newcomer to the Vail après ski scene, Cresepelle adds food options to recharge and drinks to unwind. The menu boasts 7 juice variations (all squeezed in the morning), multiple delicious crepe options, and even “Juicetails” and coffee concoctions- something for everyone. With $2 drafts and $10 pitchers, Crespelle adds a great option to the Vail Village happy hour scene.
Located in the heart of Vail Village along Gore Creek, previously the Tavern on the Gore
2:00pm – 5:00pm daily
$5 wine by the glass
The White Buffalo Lounge serves comfort food from around the world -not just the American south- and craft cocktails in an unparalleled setting above Gore Creek. A seasonal menu designed to refuel an active alpine lifestyle in a relaxed, modern mountain design. Serving both lunch and dinner, it’s the ultimate après and late night venue. In the spring and summer, they have the best deck in Vail to have a fantastic view of Gore Creek, and the sun hits it until late in the afternoon.
Located steps away from the Vail Village parking structure, before the covered bridge, inside the Mountain Haus
3:00pm – 9:00pm
$4.75 you call it and $9 appetizers, $23 surf and turf and it’s good quality meat and crab legs.
The George is definitely a bar but the large seating area on the left of the bar is filled with welcoming comfy couches and chairs. You never know who you might share a couch with. It could be some long time locals or a world-class athlete, or another tourist from half way around the world. The walls are covered with Georges from all over the world, images, mementos and a few artifacts which is part of the charm. The staff is friendly and fun!
If you don’t mind the crowds, the après ski and late night times are a lot of fun. If you are looking for a little quieter time, go in around seven and you can easily find a seat to grab a bite. In the off seasons, it is a great local spot where you can avoid rowdy crowds and enjoy the cool of the basement.
Located in Lion Square Lodge at the Gondola
3:00 pm – 5:00 pm daily
Sunday $3 you call it.
Daily happy hour specials vary so check the Vail Daily to get the updates.
This distinctive new restaurant consists of Latin inspired dishes from Mexico, South America, Central America, and Spain. El Sabor will be open for breakfast, lunch, après ski, and dinner. The breakfast menu is a simple grab and go menu. The lunch menu is themed after “street cart” fare; similar to those tasty dishes that we have all savored on our travels or seen on our favorite food network and travel shows. Dinners highlight the traditional Latin American entrèes, such as Snapper Veracruz. Libations include Central American, Spanish, and Mexican Beers, fresh made Margaritas and a specialty cocktail menu. El Sabor’s exceptional style and setting is designed to bring a new flavor to Vail locals and guests alike. Visit El Sabor in Lion Square Lodge at the Gondola to enjoy “The Flavor”.
Located in the historic Manor Vail Lodge

The Fitz Bar & Restaurant is a local favorite, offering great comfort food with a twist. The fun, recently remodeled space features mountain rustic style with historic ski images that take you back to the original days of Vail. Settle in one of the deep booths while watching the sunset over Golden Peak or enjoy a craft cocktail or beer in the bar. Friendly service and atmosphere only add to the charm, as do the reasonable prices and fun kids menu.
